This past weekend I hosted a tasting of Rosè wines at Meredith’s bridal shower. It was a luncheon at Mayfair Farms, a beautiful banquet facility where I did two wine dinners pre-Covid. Everyone enjoyed the event and the wines, and it was exciting to “get back in the saddle” with people gathering for wine events. The theme was sampling Rosè from different countries and grapes.

It was a cold, rainy, ugly day in north Jersey but I took the group to Provence, the gold standard for modern day Rosè. We closed our eyes, listened to the waves, smelled the salty sea breeze air, while we sniffed, swirled and sipped Rosè.

The first flight pairing with a mixed green salad was a Malbec rosè from Argentina and Sangiovese rose from Tuscany.
- ALTA VISTA Vive Malbec Rosè 2020 – Mendoza Argentina, $12
- LA SINETTA Il Rosè di Casanove 2021 – Tuscany, Italy $16
The second flight pairing with chicken piccata was with two of most popular rosès in today’s retail market; Whispering Angel from Provence and Summer in a Bottle from Long Island.
- CHATEAU ESCLANS Whispering Angel 2021 – Provence, France $22
- WOLFERER ESTATE Summer in a Bottle 2021 – Long Island, NY $26
