Birthday parties are always fun especially when they are BIG number birthdays! Our friends are both celebrating this month and hosted a party on Saturday night for family and friends.
Special thanks to Peter and Joanne at Mayfair Farms for breaking out their Riedel glassware and upping the wine service to accommodate this WineGuy. I was pleasantly surprised to enjoy these two red wines.
BONTERRA Merlot 2013
Mendocino, California $16
Bonterra is a name synonymous with organic farming and has achieved Demeter certification for biodynamic farming.
Wine Enthusiast 88 rating says “Delicious ripe berry and cherry flavors make this medium-bodied wine very lush and fruity. It does have moderate tannins for texture, but the richness of fruit just drenches the palate.”
DELOACH Pinot Noir 2013
Russian River Valley, Sonoma, California $22
Wine Enthusiast 90 rating says “Raspberry syrup and rose hips mark the entry of this wine, and relatively affordable offering from the appellation. Softly layered in red and black cherry as well as more brambly blackberry…”

Peter, glad you liked San Feliceice Chianti. I’m anxious to drink their Chianti Riserva which just came into store. And hopefully it’s make the grade for a future blog. Stay tuned…
