It’s not often I get excited about $10 wine but this fruity Italian red is perfect for holiday turkey. Yes it’s another Italian – sorry Cali, your cabs only get more expensive!
Valpolicella (“Valpo” in wine lingo) is the name of the wine and also the appellation (DOC) in Veneto region of northeast Italy. Valpo (wine) is made from Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara– same grapes used in Amarone, Valpolicella’s world famous bold red wine.

Valpolicella DOC is number two in wine production after Chianti region.

Bright, fruity, fragrant red table wine with sour cherry notes from great producer, Zenato. Valpolicella Superiore is aged at least one year with 13.5% alcohol content.

Perfect timing. I was just looking for a lighter Italian to serve with first course of Manicotti. Of course we will be serving a California merlot with the main course!

The quality of domestic Merlots are improving though the consumer is slow to embrace them. Good selection…Happy Thanksgiving!
