Whitehall Lane (WHL), a small, family owned/operated winery in Napa’s Rutherford district, was purchased by Tom Leonardini in 1993. The vineyards include 6 prime parcels in Napa County totalng 140 acres. Wine Spectator has awarded 90+ ratings to WHL Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot on several occasions.
I was intrigued by this wine that was not a single varietal and 2012 vintage is only the third release of this wine. The grapes are sourced from the estate’s Napa vineyards and the blend is a well-balanced mix of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah.
Tre Leoni (Three Lions in Italian) is the three grapes (Cab, Merlot, Syrah) in the blend.
WHITEHALL LANE Tre Leoni 2012
Aged 20 months in French and American oak, wine has aromas of dark cherry and cocoa with flavors of plum and blackberry, well-integrated with oak and soft tannins. Good value for Napa blend at $24.
