DID YOU KNOW: what three countries have the largest acreage of vineyards? Italy, France, Spain ,USA, China (answer below)
Zenato is known for their modern style of producing Amarone, the famous red wine that makes the Veneto region (northern Italy) reputable. Pinot Grigio and Valpolicella are other popular wines of the Veneto.
Alanera is a new wine Zenato introduced with the 2012 vintage and is referred to as “Amarone lite” because its style is similar to Amarone. Zenato adds Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot to the traditional Amarone blend (Corvina and Rondinella varietals). 50% of the grapes in Alanera are dried for a period of 45-60 days whereas 100% of Amarone varietals are aged for several months. The drying process reduces yields but produces tastier and higher alcohol wines.
Alanera, labelled IGT Rosso because it does not meet Amarone DOC specifications, is a luscious, fruity blend with richness and balance at a lower price than its big brother Amarone.
